Scenario 5, Worst case

John managed to stay on his feet until he stumbled over Igor, the doctor's assistant. 'Not Igor.... the albino. I guess they jogged his memory a little too hard' he thought as he crawled over the still warm body. He was fairly sure that the operation had also done something to his coordination- surely the open brain case and the broken thumbs and twisted wrists he had sustained during his escape from the restraints weren't enough to account for his current weakness.

Crawling seemed to work a little better. When Scorpius left him and took the chip the first thing he had thought about was calling Moya. But then he remembered that he only person he wanted to talk to wasn't there, and the only message he wanted to leave the others- to go, go and never come back, to get away from Scorpius and this frozen wasteland as soon as they could -would be gibberish. So he crawled until he got to the icy coffin they had placed Aeryn in.

It wasn't easy to open the cryochamber and it was even more difficult to remove her carefully, but he managed to slide her frozen body out and lay it on the ground. She was still scowling- he couldn't understand it- everyone he had seen at funerals had looked at peace- Aeryn just looked pissed. He pried the luxan sword from her stiff fingers and wedged the hilt of it between their bodies as he kneeled over her. 'I'll see ya soon, baby,' he said , not mindful of what it sounded like, 'and then you can tell me how angry you are with me,' and thinking that everyone on earth, his family and friends would be correct in their assumptions now , that he really would be dead, he threw himself on the sword. His last conscious thought was gratitude that he was enough himself now that he was able to do this.

When the crew of Moya got to the planet they had a brief moment of hope that John had survived. The discovery of the still intact restraints and the bloody shirt that he had wiggled out of made them think briefly that he had escaped Scorpius' clutches. When they found his body it was devastating. They chose to leave him there, feeling that it was as appropriate a grave as any. Zhaan had been correct. Tragedy separated the crew. Rygel had left on the ship he had bargained for, escaping Scorpius, only to be eaten, small ship and all, by a passing budong. The budong enjoyed the small snack, finding it crunchy on the outside and gooey on the inside.

D'argo and Jothee had been set down on the first planet that had agriculture. Chiana, disheartened by the loss of John and Aeryn and Rygel's desertion, reluctantly agreed to accompany them. The world was deathly dull and lacked even the most simple comforts, the populace following a religion that eschewed worldly goods and pleasures. The makeshift family was not a pleasant one, as Chiana's refusal to officially marry D'argo brought him down on the eyes of the community and his not so subtle hints about her inability to provide him with children were a constant source of irritation. Chiana and Jothee were soon making plans to run away together, until D'argo caught them in bed together one day and killed them both in a fit of Luxan rage. He was then executed according to the laws of his community , although many people felt sorry for him. Others were just happy that all the offworlders were dispatched in one fell swoop.

Zhaan and Stark stayed together on Moya. Zhaan was as happy as she could be under the circumstances, Moya never quite recovering from her injuries., until one day Stark tried to convince her that they needed to transport a couple of thousand Bannick slaves. Stark had a good reason for why the slaves were not dead, but it raised Zhaan's suspicions. The next time they shared unity she probed into his amorphous mind, discovering that he had been in cahoots with Scorpius because he wanted to free the slaves, and that he was largely responsible for the troubles they had undergone. Realizing that she had once again been fooled by love, not wanting to see in someone the darkness that lay beneath the surface, she snapped. She killed him in an instant, and wandered disconsolate through Moya as Moya slowly succumbed to her injuries and died, taking Pilot with her. Zhaan stayed aboard the dead and drifting wreck, eventually dying of starvation.

Crais regretted that he could not tell Aeryn Sun that hey had both been reinstated to the Peacekeepers, honor and rank intact. All they wanted was the most powerful and singular armed leviathan, Talyn. Talyn and Crais joined the Peacekeepers and were the pride of their armada, raining terror down on countless worlds and making Talyn a name that children whispered in fear under their covers at night.

Scorpius rose to even greater power in the Peacekeepers. His wormhole technology made him practically a god. The first place that the first wormhole took him was to earth, a small and pitiful place that he wasn't quite sure a worthy opponent like Crichton could have come from. He decided to spare it, feeling a certain nostalgia for the helpless green and blue planet.. then he thought,' What the hezmana,' and blew it up anyway.
