"You're being dumber then usual John." Aeryn fired, her face filled with
anger.
"Me!" John yelled back. "Since when is it okay for you to steal." He fired
back.
"I did not steal the Module's cable, I borrowed it for the Prowler. Which I
might remind you has never been the same since your lunacy with Scorpy."
She said and she would have regretted it, but she was angry and she really
couldn't figure out why.
"Just like a wife, bring up ancient history." He smirked.
"You killed me!" She said wide-eyed.
"Well, your not dead now." He shrugged. It suddenly occurred to John, this
was unusual, even for them. "Aeryn do you this conversation is getting a
little strange?" He asked.
"Strange how?" She asked back, even though she felt the same way.
"Like we've done this before, only it involved crackers." John said and
looked to her for an explanation.
"Crackers? I think your crackers." She laughed.
"It is just you and me here, right?" He smiled suddenly.
"Yes, the others are on Tayln for the supply run." She replied and eyed him
cafe fully.
"Good." He continued to smile and walked towards her. "Feel like a little
fun, honey?" His smile devilish and strange.
"Depends" She replied her hand circling the leather vest he wore so well.
"Aeryn!" He whispered and pulled her face to his. "Something weird is
happening." He said as his lips found hers.
"Yes!" Aeryn agreed and took his lips. She pulled back. "I so agree." She
said and then decked him. "It's going to be a bumpy ride!" She said
laughing and taking off down one of Moya's tiers.
----------------------------
John rubbed his swollen cheek. "Damn, she still hits good." He grinned.
"I heard that." Aeryn's voice echoed on his communicator.
"Good. You'll know why I have to get even." He said shaking his head as
though he was trying to get something straight.
"You can't even find the bathrooms on this ship without help. How do you
plan to find me?" She laughed. "John, I didn't mean that. I..." Her voice
drizzled out.
"Aer..." John started to reply and once again it was if there was something
holding him back. He smacked the back of his head with his hand. "Frell.
Think straight." He scolded himself. He was well practiced at controlling
his thoughts, thanks to Scorpy and his chip. He needed to use the same
control again. This time it would be all him though.
Aeryn looked down at her side arm. She needed to get rid of it. She knew
that. Her hand shook as she took it from her holster. "Frell." She muttered
as she looked at it, she needed to get rid of it, she knew she had to, but
she couldn't. She placed it back in its holster. She walked slowly down the
tier. "Oh husband." She beckoned with a seductive voice. "Were are you?"
She grinned.
John watched her from an opposite tier. He knew had keep his thoughts
straight and he tried... "Right here baby" He smiled stepping out from the
tier. "Just like old times." He said and walked quickly towards her.
"Not quite." Aeryn said and grabbed at her gun. "It's not empty." She fired
grazing his knee. "Catch me now." She laughed and ran past him.
"You shot me!" He yelled after her. "You are so dead!" He said as he
grabbed his knee.
"You only get to kill me once!" Her voice yelled back as he examined his
knee.
"I thought the first time was bad." He ripped his shirt to tie a quick
bandage around his knee.
Aeryn looked at the gun. She wanted to run back, she wanted to..."No!" She
shouted. She had shot him. She had shot John. "Stop it!" She screamed at
herself. She sank to the floor. She couldn't stop it. "John." She whispered
into her communicator.
"It's not us baby." His voice whispered back. "I'm not hurt badly," He
said.
She wanted to cry out in relief, but she couldn't. It wouldn't let her. "I
guess I'll have to try harder." Her voice spoke as though she had no
control over it. "No." She shook her head. "John, I can't..." Her voice
trailed off.
"Aeryn it's not you and it's not me." His voice soothed. "Remember what you
told me?" He asked softly.
"I told you it was Scorpy. You could never hurt me." She replied the memory
of the moment flooding back. It had taken her some time to convince John it
wasn't him that had hurt her and he here was doing the same for her.
"I love you." He returned.
"I love you." She said and tried to hold it back. She took in a hard breath
and the sweat poured from her forehead. She tried...She couldn't. "To bad I
have to kill you and by the way, the sex was never that great." She grinned
and got up and was on the move again.
"What sex!" He yelled back and again tried to keep his thoughts straight.
Arianna, his mind flooded to images of their daughter. The day she was born
on earth. The way Aeryn had braved giving their daughter life. The way he
had passed out during the birth. His father's smile at the news of his
granddaughter. He shook his head; he needed to keep his mind there. Just
like with Scorpy's chip, he needed to keep his head where it mattered. He
would never again lose that control, especially with Aeryn. "Aeryn, I won't
do this again." He swore and made his way towards another tier.
------------------------------------
"Arianna." Aeryn whispered. She closed her eyes tight. Her daughter
pictured in her mind. John's eyes. She saw his eyes in their daughter. She
had to stay here, in this moment. She had to keep the thought in her mind.
"No. No." She said and shook her head.
"Is that all you know how to say." John said from behind her.
She turned. She saw his gun. It was in his hand that dangled at his side.
"With you?" She smiled. "Yes."
He dropped the gun to the floor. "Get rid of Aeryn. Were not thinking
right." He urged her and looked to her weapon.
"Is it bad?" She asked squeezing her eyes, trying to stay in the moment.
"The knee?"
"No worse then your usual." He grinned.
She pulled the gun from her side. She intended to throw it the floor. She
tried. "John, get out of here." She said her voice shaking.
"Man." He swore and took a dive to the floor as she fired.
"Why the dren is this easier for you." She yelled and let off another shot.
John watched as it impacted the wall behind his refuge of a worktable.
"Practice." He yelled.
"This isn't me, I'm not doing this." She said and she grabbed a nearby wall
to rest her head on. "It's not me." She said between clinched teeth.
"I know. This is weirder then usual." He offered.
"What do we do?" She asked at a lost and that in it self was enough to make
her want to shoot again. She held onto the wall even harder.
"Pilot!" John said. "Yo, Pilot?"
"What the hess do you want?" Pilot's voice replied unusually irate.
"Now we're really screwed." John said with a deep breath.
--------------------------------------------------------
John stood outside Pilots chamber. He'd seen him pissed once before and
Aeryn almost paid the price for it. He wasn't thrilled about going in
there. Although, getting shot by his wife again didn't hold an appeal
either. "I'm here." He said into his communicator.
"What do you want a reward." Aeryn's voice accused.
"Love you to." John snapped. "You know, when this is over I expect some
serious making up." He said controlled.
"If you manage to get us out of this, I'll show you the time of your life.
Of course, that's highly unlikely." She replied and he could tell she was
trying to stay in control.
"Yea, my in ability to save your ass has always been a problem." He lashed
back.
"You saved my life." Her voice was soft and harsh all at once.
"I know." He said. He pushed the chamber door open and walked into Pilot's
chamber. "Pilot, what's up?" He said trying really hard to keep the smile.
He had an urge to say something hurtful and urge to run up to the creature
he thought of as a friend and hit him. One punch. One punch right in the
overly sensitive, often to nice, mouth. What the hell was going on?
"Commander Crichtion. Don't you know how to knock?" Pilot slurred out.
John raised an eyebrow. Pilot was loaded. How the hell? "You seem really
off there Pilot." He said and walked closer.
"So what." Pilot said.
"Yea, well just wanted to check in. See what your doing." He moved closer.
Suddenly one of Pilot's arms snaked out and sucker punched him. He hit the
floor.
"Stay back." Pilot snarled.
He sat up. "Just once I would like to the damn hitting!" He swore getting
up. "Fine, you want to be alone, you got it." He turned, but not before
giving Pilot an old fashion earth goodbye.
Pilot wondered in even his state, what that middle finger meant?
-------------------------------------------------------
"It doesn't appear Pilot will be help." Aeryn's voice sounded over his
communicator.
"Frell him." John swore.
"You seem out of control now." She supplied.
"Yes. It does seem that way. Better be careful." He said his voice taking a
deeper tone.
"John, something's different."
"Yea. I got that feeling to." He smiled, walking towards her location.
------------------------------------------
Aeryn wiped the sweat from her brow. She felt different. Like there was
something gone. She leaned against the wall. "John, I think there's
something in here with us." There was no answer. She continued anyway. "I
don't know what it is." She said letting out a breath. "Something is here.
"John answer me." She almost pleaded.
She felt the hands grasp her and she didn't have time to react.
"Nag. Nag." He swore into her ear. His one hand at her throat tilting her
head to the side, the other around her waist.
"Crichtion let me go." She said her voice controlled, but deadly. "Now!"
She said louder.
"Bitch." He swore and swept her legs out from under her. They both landed
on the floor. John on top of Aeryn. "What a switch me on top." He grinned
and pinned her arms on either side of her.
She moved her leg to kick him, but he was quicker. He tightened his around
hers' like a brace. "Crichtion, stop it." She tried one more time.
"No. Stop." He mimicked her. He lowered his head, his lips brushing her
throat. "When is yet yes?" He muttered against her neck.
"John." She said and brushed her head against his. "Let me go."
He picked his head up and looked at her. "When I'm finished." He lowered
his head again.
"Your finished." She said and smacked his head with hers. He rolled off her
and she scrambled to stand up.
He grabbed for her, tackling her and to the floor. "Rough huh?" He grinned.
Aeryn realized in that moment, it wasn't him. Not some momentary insanity.
It really wasn't him. She kicked, he caught it her leg with his hand. He
pinned her again and she struggled. "I don't know who you are, but you're
not John." She seethed.
"Really?" He laughed.
"Yes. John would never do this and he would never risk our child." She said
looking him straight in the eye.
"Arianna's not here." He said and bent to towards her.
"I'm not talking about Arianna." She kept his eyes. There was a sudden
flash in his eyes. He let her go and she moved away.
He got up. He walked to the nearest object, a canister and flung it.
"Aeryn, get the hell out of here." He said clenching his hands.
"John." She eyed him. She didn't want to leave him.
"Get out of here!" He screamed.
She took off and she could here the destruction and the anger behind her.
-----------------------------------------------------
"Pilot, there is something on this ship." She nearly shouted into her
communicator as she rounded a tier.
"I believe you are right, Officer Sun." Pilot replied, with his usual
restrained voice.
"Pilot, you sound better." Aeryn raised an eyebrow.
"Was I sick?" He questioned confused.
"No more then the rest of us. What does Moya think is going on?"
"Moya does sense another being on the ship, but she is unsure of what it is
or how it got on board."
"What ever it is, is interfering with our behavior. John attacked me." She
replied, looking back the way she just came.
"Commander Crichtion would not do that." Pilot offered softly.
"I know," She said.
--------------------------------------------
The rage seemed uncontrollable. He closed his eyes tight, willing it to go
away. He needed to check on Aeryn. What was going on? He would never harm
her. There was no control, the actions and the words just spilled out. He'd
been here before and he wasn't going to stay. "Aeryn?" His voice broke as
he spoke.
"I'm here." Her voice floated back into the room.
"Another kid?" He grinned and slid down to the floor.
"Yes. I was going to tell you later. However, what ever this, is gave me no
choice."
"Any other way, just wouldn't have been us," He joked. "You told me about
Arianna, three microns before we landed on Earth together for the first
time."
"Yes, I must admit, watching D'argo pick you up off the floor was
interesting." She smiled, she was now seated on the floor, it was almost as
if they were in the same room. It was always this way. No matter the time
or space, the connection was there.
"Hey, we were never going to bring that up," He returned. "How's pilot?"
"He seems to have returned to normal and so have you." She realized all of
a sudden.
"So what ever it is, isn't with me or Pilot anymore." He offered and stood
up. "Aeryn. Where are you?" He asked with urgency.
"You'll have to find me." Her voice returned and it wasn't Aeryn's.
---------------------------------------------------------
"No Pilot, it's jumping around from each of us." John explained to Pilot,
standing inside his chamber. "Hell, it was drunk as a skunk, inside you."
"Drunk?" Pilot questioned. "Like we did at your traditional Earth bachelor
party, where..."
John cut him off with a grin, "Never mind. We have to figure out where this
came from."
"Moya and I both noticed a strange energy, before the rest left for the
supplies." Pilot offered.
"You didn't think it was worth mentioning?" John raised an eyebrow.
"We often experience energy transmissions, it was nothing unusual." Pilot
theorized with a gesture of his arms.
"Where did it come from?" John asked.
"It came from one of the transport pods on the bay."
"The bay." John repeated as he turned to leave.
"What are you going to do Commander?" Pilot asked.
"Return to the scene of the crime."
--------------------------------------------
"What the hell?" John said as he leaned in closer to take a look at the
outside of the transport pod. "There's something gooey stuck to the outside
of the pod." He offered for Pilots ear. "I also do not want to know what it
is." He said and shook his hand vigorously. "Where's Zhaan when you need
her." He mumbled and wiped what was left behind on the rim of the pod.
"Moya is picking up traces of energy from the pod." Pilot's voice
communicated.
"Yeah, what ever it was or is, came on Moya through the pod." John grabbed
the back of his neck with his hand. "Another fine mess." He mused to no one
but himself or so he thought.
"Your very good at making a mess, honey." Aeryn said from behind him.
"Aeryn." He smiled, hoping it was her.
"Maybe. Maybe not." She smiled, not her usual smile. This one was pure
mischief. "We really like it here." Her voice replied, but it wasn't her.
"Care to fill me in on, who we might be?" John kept the smile.
"We want this ship. You may leave."
"Well, sees there's a problem. We kind of consider this home and Moya isn't
up for sale or theft."
Aeryn moved to stand right in front of him. "We want this ship." The voice
was vicious now.
"Hey, why don't you ask her yourself?" John suggested and a sudden idea
hitting him. He just hoped it work. "You know Moya can speak for herself."
"How do we speak to her?"
"Well, want don't you just hop into her. You seem to be good at it."
"Commander, what are you doing?" Pilot's voice pleaded.
A strange expression came over Aeryn's face. Her eyes slowly shut and she
slumped to the floor.
"Baby?" He brushed the hair back from her face. She slowly opened her eyes
to look up at him.
"What did you do?" She scolded.
"Doesn't anyone..." He was cut off as Moya reared to the left, sending them
flying across the bay.
"Moya is in trouble." Aeryn shouted as they hit the wall.
Moya dipped to the other side. John grabbed a hold on his module this time
and then Aeryn. "Pilot, tell Moya to starburst." He yelled as Moya nose
divided, slamming them up against the module.
"What the frell are you doing?" Aeryn yelled pressed up against the module
and him.
"Overdosing the thing."
Moya continued her nosedive. Aeryn grabbed onto John even tighter. "I hope
you know what your doing." She forced out, the force was taking her breath
away.
"Me to." He shouted back and tightened his grasp on the module.
From outside Moya glowed with the first light of starburst. A loud whine
came from outside her. A dark cloud peeled back from her like a second
skin. It scurried to be away from the ship. Moya launched into starburst
and was gone. The cloud floated in space for moments afterward. He watched
and then it engulfed itself. It was gone, as thought it had never been
there at all.
It stopped. John let go of the module. "Pilot?" He questioned.
"Moya appears to be all right." Pilot replied softly.
"Aeryn?" He turned his attention to his wife.
"Fine." She replied backing away from the module.
"What about junior?" He asked placing a hand to her abdomen.
"We're fine." She smiled.
"Pilot you'd better give the others our new location." John said and looked
around. "Mean time, feel like cleaning up?" He looked at Aeryn.
"Not really." She said and placed her arms around him. "I seem to remember,
I said something about showing you the time of your life and with the delay
the others won't be here for a while." She smiled.
"Anywhere on the ship?" He raised an eyebrow.
"Anywhere." Aeryn said and pulled his head in to meet hers. She smiled and
pressed her lips to his.
He broke the kiss and pulled her towards the module.
She stopped. "The piece of junk?" She looked wide-eyed.
"Yeah. See there's a time you owe me for." He smiled and pulled her up
against him. "I'm collecting." He kissed her.
The End:)
Moya floated in space, softly and quietly. It was hard to
believe that an all out argument was happening on her command. Of course
the surprise was who was doing the Arguing.
