Summary: A short poem about two lovers.

~*~*~*~*~

HIM: You come to me through the darkened corridors, shadow-hidden,
Come in answer to our passions' growth to me unbidden.

HER: Slowly, seductively, you pull me near--
All the while planting soft kisses on my lips, neck and ear.

HIM: My heart is filled with my love for you,
But public acknowledgement of it we cannot do.

HER: I yearn to hold you close, to speak not in soft whispers
Of my love, but shout it out for all to hear, from lowly techs to the highests of sirs.

HIM: Hush, my darling, my sweet, you know it cannot be--
It is an emotion denied to Peacekeepers such as you and me.

HER: I know, dearest heart, and so in others' arms we must hide,
Recreating with them, to divert attention from our mutual feelings buried inside.

HIM: Perhaps, one day, our love can be publicly shown,
And to the rest our true feelings for each other be known.

HER: For that day I shall forever wait,
Enduring all things thrown at us by the hands of fate.

HIM: And each time my eyes slide shut at night,
In my darkest dreams, my dearest, 'tis you who bring light.

BOTH: 'Til the day we once again meet,
Our love in our hearts we will secretly keep.

And on that day we may take a chance,
Boldly step forward to end this dance.

Say the words aloud for all Peacekeepers to hear,
"Talyn, I love you." "And I love you, Xhalax, my dear."
